FJR 2019 no. 12: Special: Private International Law and International Family Law.

This special edition (in Dutch) contains contributions with regard to foreign family law. One contribution explores the changes in Syrian law of persons and family law. Another contribution analyses the recent changes in the field of  Belgian and Flemish law of persons, family law and juvenile law. In the contribution regarding European international matrimonial property law and matrimonial relations, attention is given to  European private international law, and how it is transposed in Dutch legislation., This year, like every year, the special edition includes an overview of human rights case law (including the most recent family law judgments by the ECtHR), an overview of literature on international family law and an overview of case law regarding private international law and international family law by the IJI’s Lisette Frohn (a member of the FJR editorial team).  of In an editorial Lisette also examines the ins and outs of applying foreign law, including various specific challenges, and how this sometimes difficult issue is one where collaboration between states and institutions can play a significant role.
